Rattle Cat Cup (black out and branding)
I managed to get myself into the Rattle Cat Cup, banked slalom race at Red Mountain this year. Someone proposed the idea one night when I was on the liquor and a few days later Johan Rosen, Tony Trapineau, and myself were drinking jaeger at 10am and showing up late for our heat.
The weekend was a derivative of black-out-drunk dancing and almost black out drunk racing. The after party at Rafter's Lounge was pretty much the sickest after party of all time. Or so I have been told, as I was 10/10 by 8pm. Don't even remember dancing the-fuck-out (and consequently getting kicked out for drunkenness) to one of my currently favorite bands: Generationals. Sweet set guys! Catch ya next time.
The switch race proved to be one hell of a loose event. Johan had a decent performance, but this guy in the picture... a real beauty.. switch on the swallow tail. On THAT course its reckless at best, and insane at worst.
That's a big old lump of quarter-pipe snow in the left of the picture. Or a gap to flat if you were feeling particularly drunk as hell.
Lesson I learned from the Rattle Cat Cup: there may be a limit to how many times you can get kicked out of Rafters Lounge for being too drunk, but I haven't experienced it.
Lesson this guy in the picture learned from the Rattle Cat Cup: the liquor gives you courage but your knees need to be able to finish the job.
